Biography of Yusuff Ola-Gold, Mutalub
Yusuff Olatunji, Mutalub was born on 13th of June, 1988. He started his elementary education at Ebenezer Baptist Nursery and Primary, Iwo where he was the senior prefect boy for the 1999/2000 set. He proceeded to A1 Comprehensive Grammar, Iwo. He completed his secondary school education as one of the best students of his set. Ola-Gold as he is fondly called proceeded to Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki where he graduated in the year 2014 with Second Class Honor (Upper Division) in Geology and Exploration Geophysics.
Yusuff Mutalub served his fatherland at the famous Government Technical College, Ibadan, Oyo state. While serving as a corps member, he was the coordinator of Editorial CDS group of Ibadan South East Local government. He was recently admitted to the prestigious University of Ibadan to continue his postgraduate studies (MSc) in Engineering and Environmental Geology. Yusuff has been working as a community developer and social crusader tactical for the past one decade but technical for close to two years.
He is a social commentator, an advocate of good governance and inclusive development facilitator. He is an aggressive writer and has written a good number of articles on social-political situation of Nigeria and Africa at large, some of which have featured in both print and online media including skytrendnews.com.
Yusuff believes that a man who want to be great in life must be able to find a balance between his personal, professional and social goals. Being a trained geologist, he was able to combine that with his social and community engagement. He derives his motivation from his parents, Mr and Mrs Akinlabi Mutalub who are both humanitarians per excellence. His love for humanity grows better during his days in the university when he joined ROTARACT Club of Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (ROTA-FETHA). He was opportune to attend a number of trainings, seminars and conferences on Leadership, personal development and social services. He was a participants at the 2012 Conference of all Rotractors in Nigeria (2012 NIGEROTA, portharcourt, Rivers state).
He equally attended Julius Ali Ucha Leadership Summit, Enugu in the year 2012. Com Yusuff Mutalub just like his parents is a lover of his community. He is so passionate about the development of Iwoland that he always want to use the slightest advantage at his disposal to add value to the land. During his undergraduate days, he was an active and participatory member of Federation of Iwoland Students Union, National Headquarters. He was an aspirant for the post of Vice President during 2010 FILSU National Headquarter General Election. He equally served on various committee of the union.
He single handedly facilitated the inauguration of both National Association of Osun State Students and Federation of Iwoland Students Union, Ebonyi State University Chapter and as well served as the pioneer president of both students union body. He also demonstrated his doggedness and political will by serving as the Ag. General Secretary of Odua Students Association (A body of all students from Yoruba speaking states), Ebonyi state University Chapter between 2010 and 2012. He was equally the General Secretary of Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society, (NMGS), Ebonyi state university chapter between 2011 and 2012. Com Yusuff was a vibrant student union leader and a voice to reckon with in students activism.
Yusuff Ola-Gold participated in a lot of research work on Iwo history, development and political participation. His contribution to the development of Iwoland has been recognized within and outside Iwoland. He was one of the five man committee sent to Ile Ife by Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi to do findings and investigation about the history of Ooni Luwo Gbagida, the first and the last female Ooni of Ife and the mother of Prince Adekola Telu, the progenitor of Iwo kingdom. He equally served as a member of Iwo Action Council (IWAC) education committee during the IWAC silver jubilee anniversary in 2015. He was equally a committee member of 2016 Greater Iwo Empire children’s Day celebration.
He is as well the chairman of Community Development committee of Iwoland Development Coalition (IDC). Yusuff believes that it is better to light the candle than to curse the darkness, he believes youths are the engine room of any nation and they have a major role to play in the process of building an enviable future for Iwoland and Nigeria at large. He is of the opinion that youths serve as the bridge between today and tomorrow of our fatherland.
Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to inform you that this erudite young man is the initiator of HArise Organization of Nigeria (HON), an organization/social enterprise that is working on building a new generation of youth through developing and restructuring their mindsets towards achieving success in all ramification. He equally co-founded and chartered a good number of organization including Inxpire.com, Iconicus-Ibadan, Youth Alliance for Development among others.
He presently works as the Executive Director for a civil society organization in Ibadan, GCDF. He loves writing and reading classic books. He also has a diploma from SCRIPLOGUE Academy, Ibadan (A school of writing and public speaking). He is also a graduate of College of Sustainable Citizenship, affiliated to Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. He has attended several seminars and national conferences on Leadership, Good governance, Social responsibility and community development. He is also the Osun state Coordinator of Global Youths Peace and Empowerment Initiatives, GYPEI. In his words; “I love Iwoland, I love my country and I love to serve humanity.
I believe my life is a donation to the rest of the world and I believe the best way to serve God is to serve humanity.” Com Ola-Gold has received a good number of award; Graduate Award by ROTA-FETHA, 2013, Award of Excellence in Leadership by SCRIPLOGUE, 2015 and Award of Excellence in Community Development, FILSU OUA Chapter, 2016.
Yusuff is a member of professional bodies like Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and as well a member of civil society network like Child Protection Network (CPN), Committee for Defense of Human Right (CDHR) and many others. He is single and always ready to mingle.
