A Year Remembrance Of Alhaji Salinsile + Brief History About Him


Today, 13th day of March 2016 marks a year Alhaji Rasheed Adelani Salinsile left this sinful world. The vacuum left behind by his transition is still much unfilled in IWOLAND ! The exemplary deeds are unmistakable and his legacies still speaks volume. He is an icon and a community developer to the core. Today we remember him for his positive contribution to Iwo city and we at Iwocitygist decided to bring to you history and some facts about him.


Alhaji Abdur-Rasheed Adelani  Salinsile, was born on 20th June, 1955 into the family of Alhaji Salimon Ishola and Mrs Sabitiyu of Edun Olowo's compound, Isale Oba in Iwo. He began his primary education at AUD Primary School Akinfenwa, Iwo, and went for his secondary school education in Iwo grammar school and Orile-owu grammar school respectively. Later, he went on to learn the art of painting and decoration at The Government Technical College Oyo in 1979.

He worked  as a contractor under Oyo State Ministry of Works, Ibadan and later joined  the famous Salinsile and Sons Motor Company. Alhaji has traveled to so many countries as a business man he is to purchase different types of vehicles. Another business he ventured in is the sale of fuels and other petroleum products. He owned the famous petrol filling station (NNPC) located along Iwo-Ibadan expression in Iwo.

Alhaji was an active muslim with so many recorded contributions in building mosques in the community despite the fact that he built some single handedly. He went to the holy pilgrimage so many times also. It is a known fact that despite being a muslim, he embraces all religions, and never discriminate other religions different from his own. He was the Aare Musulumi Of Iwo Land before his demise. Apart from being a practicing muslim, he was also a member of many social organizations, including the famous Iwo Board of Trustees.


Alhaji Abdur-Rasheed Salinsile was married to late Alhaja Tayibat Adeola Salinsile, Alhaja Toyin Salinsile and Alhaja Folashade Salinsile, with the marriage blessed with children and grandchildren. he was a responsible father and a good husband, his wives said after he died. The love he had for his children extends to the grandchildren which makes them crave for his presence all the time.

He died exactly last year 13 March 2015  in his sitting room  waiting for the day’s Jumat service. He is survived by wives, children, grandchildren. We pray God forgives his sins and place him in the best part of his favorites.
