Iwoland Is A Home Of Patriots And Righteous Men - High Chief Kunle Alabi

High Chief Kunle Alabi has lauded distinguished sons and daughters of Iwoland for exhibiting true virtues of good character and excellent moral values.

He stated this while reacting to a post on Iwoland Development Coalition watsApp page that list the names of corrupt personalities in Nigeria and the wealth they've acquired through illegal means.

He however shower encomiums on notable personalities like Prince Alade Lamuye, Barrister Eniola Atanda, Prof Gabriel Fagbure, Colonel Ogunkanmi, Deacon Oyebamiji and the likes for not engaging in anything that could tarnish their image.

He speaks further, "It always gladdens one's heart that Iwoland is blessed with a crop of people, community and political leaders who cherish their names and that of their community. They moved away from anything that could tarnish their image.

In their lexicon, money is not everything. In Iwoland, money is not worshipped. It is not a god."

He continued, "I was privileged to have had opportunity to hold series of meetings between 1995 and 2006) with our revered the Late Prince Tiamiyu Alade LAMUYE, former Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Finance.

In one of our meetings, Baba Prince narrated to me his experience during the coup that terminated the life of Nigeria's Republic on the 15th January, 1966.

Baba told me that all his colleagues (Ministers) were detained by the military for many days and weeks. But, Prince Lamuye was released the following day, spending less than 24 hours in Alagbon Detention of the Nigeria Police, having satisfied that he had no skeleton in his cupboard."

He also said, "The Late Gab Fagbure was a veteran journalist and former Commissioner of Information in the Western Region of the old. He was never molested, talk less of detaining.

In the military, we have people like the Late Colonel Alimi OGUNKANMI, a Nigerian - Biafran war hero. He was never subjected to probe.
In the Police, we have citizens like Deacon Gabriel OYEBAMIJI, retired Assistant Commissioner of Police. He is reputed to have never obtained a bribe in his 35 years of sojourn in the Nigeria Police Force. Mr Israel Ajao, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police had a clean record in the Police.

Ditto for so many of our community and political leaders. I trust someone would remind me of our legend, Lawyer Lasisi Eniola ATANDA. His case could be said to be political.

If you could check again the list of the corrupt political leaders, there is neither a Yoruba name, nor Iwo Federal Constituency son or daughter. This is heart warming. I am not saying Iwo politicians are super humans, but we are fair. And this calls for celebrations."
